COVID-19 Roundtable

This segmented discussion will focus on three areas of management of the COVID-19 positive patient. Panelists will provide pearls for the use of ultrasound, ventilation and shock management in treatment. Panelists will also address pre-submitted questions as well as answer live questions from the audience. The Other Public Health Emergency: How Inherent Bias Affects Healthcare

Healthcare disparities are a public health emergency in the same vein of the coronavirus pandemic and must be treated as such. This interactive panel discussion will challenge EM practitioners to address the inherent biases that can cause care disparities with devasting outcomes for minority patient populations who present in the ED. 

Diverse panelists from various racial, ethnic, gender identity backgrounds will tackle the difficult questions and provide insight on the steps needed to acknowledge and rectify inherent bias in your role as a healthcare provider.  

This highly interactive and learner driven panel discussion will incorporate moderated breakout rooms for pre and post discussion to allow for conversation and reflection. This panel will explore ways to achieve health equity and reduce disparities in patient care within the ED.
